Just like the Escape hybrid which was killed in 2012, hybrid SUVs are a hard sell in the US, from the Subaru Crosstrek XV all the way up to the Toyota Highlander and Lexus RX. Falling gas prices (for now) will kill off even more hybrid sales.

Looks like the M-B GL350 Bluetec stands alone as the most efficient full size SUV now with 22 mpg combined?

I think it's interesting that according to the EPA a 2015 Tahoe and Suburban get exactly the same MPG with the same 5.3l engine.

 

Can somebody explain how #7 works?

 

The engine alternates between EV and ICE with fuel efficiency in mind. It has an electric AC compressor hence cooling is not compromised. The engines idles in EV more than ICE that even after 3 hours of idling there is hardly any drop in mileage. Any owner can attest to this.

 

"idle" has an ICE connotation to it, but I guess times are a-changin'...

Idle, Auto-Stop you can pull in to a rest area and have an air conditioned or heated cabin to catch a few ZZZs in for not much fuel.

 

it's that time again for me this friday. no luck in seeing a different Z….a Z06.

 

Can you park the Z06 at a rest stop and actually get any REST? I can't understand the Vette with handicap placards either.
