Default Re-Charged My Air Conditioner Today

So it was 88 degrees today in NYC and I needed the air conditioning in my car to work properly. And after noticeably still sweating after ten minutes of driving, fans blazing and no change in cabin temperature. I decided it needed a re-charge. So I pulled into my local NAPA store and got a bottle and one of the guys showed me how and where to connect it. 23 dollars and ten minutes later I had blistering cold air again. Do it yourself sure beats going to the dealer for anything, Awesome!

So this gets me thinking does my secondary dedicated air conditioner for the HV battery need to be replenished as well? Do I need to do anything maintenance wise other then cleaning the air filter once an a while? I'm curious any thoughts thanks?

Wow, I wonder about that too--my cabin AC seems to work fine, but in hot weather, the ICE stops shutting off, and it sounds like it's because the AC needs to keep running for the battery.

Maybe when I added the Freon to the system its linked to the secondary AC unit?

What do guys think?

There is only one compressor so think of the rear aux battery A/C as a rear A/C. You can't separate the systems so if the cabin A/C does not cool right, neither will the aux A/C.

Also, if you have your cabin A/C on max (far left on the dial) the ICE will not shut off. Same thing on defroster (far right on the dial). The orange color of the items on the far ends of the dial indicates which ones will not work in EV mode.

What does the acronym ICE stand for?

EV Electric Volt. Mode?

I hope you had a set of gauges, otherwise not a good idea to just blindly add refrigerant. Also, the stuff doesn't evaporate, it LEAKS out.
