Anyone know if it is possible to order and install the OEM NAV system after market? I purchased my FEH pre-owned and wanted the NAV system but they're hard to come by in a pre-owned unit.

 

It is likely you will need a wiring harness to connect the NAV to your vehicle. Another poster reported he paid like $200.00 at the dealership for this harness (he had a 2005 model) plus the price of the NAV unit he found on e-bay.

 

I inquired at the stealership about retrofitting a factory nav unit when I purchase my '09 and was told that although it was possible, it wouldn't be practical due to the prohibitive cost.

 

I did it to my 2008 FEH right after I got it with no problems. It is a plug-and-play replacement. You just need to make sure your nav unit is configured for your vehicle (i.e. 2008 FEH, with or without steering wheel controls), which most the sellers on ebay will do. You will need to get a GPS antenna (should be less than $100 on ebay) and the bezel that goes on the center stack (I bought mine from the dealer for $50). Total cost to me was $1600. I can answer more specific questions about the swap if you have any.

 

Good to know. Now to try and hunt a NAV system down for this thing. My stealership is pretty good so i'm sure they'll cut me a deal on the wiring harness, antenna and bezel.

 

You don't need an extra wiring harness, everything you need already exists in the vehicle.

 

If you're doing this just for the NAV you'd be better off with a Garmin,, The info display,, well that's another story

 

I also installed an OEM NAV system in my 2008 FEH. It was really easy and I did it by myself. I bought the NAV Antenna off of EBAY. The NAV unit (also ordered off of EBAY) came with the sirius receiver and upgraded speakers, I never installed either (already had sirius receiver and never made it around to installing new speakers before trading the FEH in for a Fusion Hybrid). If you get the NAV and are interested in either the speakers or Sirius receiver, let me know as I will let you have them for the cost of shipping just to get them out of my attic.
