MPG city / hwy was 34 city legit
I replaced the HTB on my 2008 Altima and can say it gets better MPG now at 200k+ than when I first got it at 14k
The company that replaced it, Hybrid2go, said they use new 4th generation cells now and thought the OEM might have been 2nd or 3rd
This leads me to considering them to replace the Mariner battery because with 145k, my observed city with some hills here in coastal So Cal is about 26 and my hwy is about 31 if I keep it under 68mph or so.
With a good battery was that 34mpg EPA city claim ever realistic for normal city driving

Review the test details tab on that page.
Hills destroy mpg.
The 08 Altima used Gen2 cells.
According to the hype:
Gen3 cells are SLIGHTLY improved over Gen2.
Gen4 cells are SLIGHTLY improved over Gen3, but notably less than the jump from Gen2 to Gen3.
I can state emphatically, that I've been unable to measure a difference between Gen3 and Gen4 cells. I have even checked high mileage Gen2 modules from mild climates and found them to test as good as brand new Gen4.
Hybrid2Go is blowing smoke.
Are you comparing detailed records for driving under identical conditions, or is this just anecdotal? The vast majority of mileage changes are driving patterns, weather and drivers - not the hybrid battery.

The Altima battery improvement is just based on me diving under similar conditions on the same section of road, the EV mode is a little more robust, doesn't want to jump to ICE as readily
When my Altima had 15K to about 180K I was averaging about 33 and for the last 15K with the newer TCB I'm at about 35
For my Mariner, I agree the hills around here take their toll on MPG and I suspect even when new I wouldn't be getting 34 around town, at least not here
appreciate the feedback
