Default Extended Warranty

Can someone recommend a good place to buy a extended warranty on my 4WD FEH? Hope to drive the wheels off of it. Thanks.

You may not like this answer, but here goes:

You didn't specify what year your FEH is. That makes a difference, as does the mileage. If it's still fairly new, from what I've been told, the Ford extended warranty provides the most comprehensive coverage for the money. However, the older and more mileage you have, the cost goes up drastically. I priced one for my 06 FEH 2WD, when I had only about 89K on it. The best I could find was one (through Ford; I tried through USAA and several other companies) was going to be $2300 and would only cover one year and 15,000 miles. Needless to say, I declined. The big cost on the warranties was based on the cost of buying a new hybrid battery and associated components for the electronics involved.

Hopefully, you don't fall into my category. I'm now at 105,000+, but I maintain it religiously and baby it as much as possible, using techniques I learned from our more experienced brethren on this site.

Anyone had similar, or different experiences with warranties?

I should have mentioned that it is a 2009 with under 30,000 miles. Sometimes one dealer or another has a good deal on warranties.

You are still under the original factory warranty, so you can get the Ford ESP at a reasonable price.

I got mine from myfordwarranty.com. I recall that I paid 1800 (on a sale) for 100k/7 years zero deductable - including rental car. I purchased mine at about 1.5 years and 13K miles.

EDIT: That was for the maximum coverage policy.

I checked the site, and your costs for the premium care would be:

0 Deductible Miles/Years 3 4 5 6 7
36,000 $515 $540 $620
48,000 $590 $615 $640 $690 $830
60,000 $685 $715 $750 $815 $995
75,000 $970 $1020 $1075 $1180 $1470
100,000 $1425 $1460 $1510 $1610 $1740

Thanks, they look to be a bit cheaper than another one I looked at, though they don't appear to offer a 7 year/125,000 mile plan, which would work best for me. The other company does, but at $2,000 ($1,000 more than your company for 6 year/100,000 miles), it would not make sense.

I used www.myfordwarranty.com to extend the factory warranty on my '08 FEH. It was a really easy process and I even called the local dealer after the process was over and they confirmed on their computers that my FEH warranty was showing as extended.

If you do decide to go with a Ford warranty, there are several dealers with web site storefronts that sell factory warranty extensions, I suggest you look around and price them out. You may also want to take those prices to your local dealer and see if they will match them.

The $1740 PremiumCare was a 7 year plan / 100K. Those web cut and paste things never format correctly.

I've done the whole; print out internet quote use as bargaining tool, thing. Of course that’s if you want to get it from a brick and mortar store/dealer and not online. my 2 cents

The myfordwarranty site is a brick and mortar dealer, they just sell on line. I think that to sell Ford ESP one has to be an actual dealer. There are several other places on line that also sell, but are actually dealers.

I find that having the price is useful if you are at the dealer and arranging for the vehicle purchase, rather than going back afterwards and looking for the warranty from the dealer.

O yea for sure. I was more looking at the buyer that might be "scared" to buy one online.
