Default Check Brake System

I have a 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid..

Every now and then a "Check Brake System" message pops up with the ABS light on.

I went to a few different shops.. one told me it was the Master Cylinder, another told me it was the ABS Brake pump and/or module.

The light will turn on but let's say if I park and let the car sit for a while or I have a mechanic clear it with a diagnostic machine the car runs perfectly fine. Does anyone else have this issue? does anyone have a resolution?

Sounds like a possible tone ring issue. Did anyone check that out for you yet? If not, just get up underneath and check for yourself as they're very easy to get to.

Vid someone else posted on changing them out -- not something for the layman to tackle.
