Aliens?

Aliens?
I hear intermittent static from the right front speaker in my 2008 MMH (satellite & factory nav) Not constant white noise, actually sounds like a buzzer tapping out Morse code, lasts for 10-30 seconds at a time, occurs once or twice a week randomly. Radio does not have to be on, and volume control does not seem to affect it. Interference from ??? Speaker wire shorting? My wife thinks it's aliens trying to make contact. Anyone had similar noises?

Re: Aliens?
Where do you keep your cell phone (or your wife's maybe)? If a phone is too close to a speaker, you will get feedback similar to what you are describing when the phone reports back to the tower.
I drove my wife to the airport last week and got "phone feedback" in the rear right speaker. I thought it was pretty weird to be coming from back there until my wife declared that she put her phone in her carry on which was a few inches away from the speaker.

Re: Aliens?
I second Kristian's theory...
I have some old computer speakers that do the same sort of swishing and popping when my cell phone is near them and a call/text is coming in (or even occasionally when nothing comes, I assume this is just the phone checking in and/or getting an update from the system).
You know there's technology to turn your cell phone into a live microphone so they can listen in on you right? ;}

Re: Aliens?
Yeah its pretty much only GSM (AT&T, Tmobile, what did i forget) I have an AVIC D-3 with the bluetooth module, and if i have my phone anywhere near the where i put the bluetooth module, or where the connector cable runs i get static when I'm using the phone. So some systems can be pretty touchy.

Re: Aliens?
We do have ATT GSM phones and my wife does keep her phone in her purse on the floor next to the speaker (the only speaker affected). Have to move it and see if that helps. Also seem to recall that I hear the noises fairly reproducibly when we are coming back into a cell after having been in the mountains where there is no service- the phone could be checking in with local carrier. Interesting. Was hoping for aliens. Thanks all.
