aftermarket speakers
I've got an 06 FEH with the 6 disc cd changer. I would like to improve the sound quality, which could definitely use improving, but I would prefer to keep the cd changer. Would just replacing the speakers make a big difference in sound quality or is this more of an amp/receiver problem. I've read that the stock speakers are pretty cheap but havn't heard many comments about the quality of the stock cd player/disc changer.
I've checked the dealer and replacing the speakers is no problem for the warranty.
Oh, and any suggestions for speakers in the FEH?
Thanks.

Re: aftermarket speakers
You are right to suspect the quality of the 6-cd changer. I have the 6-CD changer and I replaced the rear door speakers with Infinity-s and the front door speakers with Pioneer-s. The quality has improved noticeably but it is noticeably held back by the quality of the amp/tuner. I don't mind because I plan on replacing the 6-CD changer unit with a Pioneer AVIC-Z1 in the near future. The speakers in the doors of the FEH are the same size as the speakers in the regular Escapes of those years...so thats how to decide which size to buy. I recommend buying some Dynamat (type) vibration damping material to stick to the inside of the outer door surfaces to improve the acoustics, the door metal is rather thin and tends to rattle at even low volumes. Good luck.
