Winnebago e-RV Concept to Debut at Florida RV Super Show

Winnebago e-RV concept will offer 125 miles of range. The concept EV will make its global debut at the upcoming Florida RV Super Show.

With the popularity of electrification at an all-time high, major automakers are introducing electrified offerings for every market segment. Rivian is backing its product portfolio with the Rivian Adventure Network, which will help customers recharge their EVs and explore the road less traveled. Soon, Minnesota-based motorhome manufacturer Winnebago will also enter the adventure-touring segment. The company recently previewed its e-RV concept.

Winnebago Industries president and chief executive officer Michael Happe shared his thoughts on the e-RV zero-emission motorhome concept, “This is an exciting time for Winnebago Industries and the outdoor lifestyle industry as a whole. We are proud to continue our innovation legacy with the reveal of the e-RV concept vehicle,” said Happe.

It took Winnebago’s Advanced Technology Group two years to develop the concept vehicle. The company’s Advanced Technology Group aims to explore new technologies, including electrifications. Winnebago plans to incorporate emerging technologies in its future products. In addition to electrification, the all-new e-RV concept is also a next-generation product with impressive connectivity features.

The company used an environmentally friendly approach to construct the Winnebago e-RV concept.

Winnebago’s e-RV concept will debut at the upcoming Florida RV Super Show. A 86 kWh battery pack powers the electric-only drivetrain of the e-RV concept. The onboard systems of the electric recreation vehicle also draw power from the same battery pack. The EV concept offers 125 miles of driving range and also has a 45-minute high-current charging time. The company claims that its new product will be ideal for the 54% of new buyers who limit their trips to just 200 miles.

With advances in battery technology, it is also possible that Winnebago’s future models will offer more range. The e-RV concept’s design focuses on sustainability. As a result, the flooring of the recreational vehicle is made out of recycled cork rubber. Furthermore, Winnebago also uses woolen wall appliqués for insulation.

Winnebago Industries senior vice president, Business Development, Advanced Technology and Enterprise Marketing, Ashis Bhattacharya, also offered his insights into Winnebago’s mission. “Consumer demand is driving electric power applications across many fronts, and we believe RV consumers are poised to benefit from the enhanced features and usability that electrified and connected RV products will provide,” said Bhattacharya.

He further added, “Winnebago Industries has an ongoing mission to listen to and learn from our customers as we continue refining, exploring, and innovating, and the e-RV concept vehicle is a perfect example of this.”
