10) 2021 Polestar 2

Polestar 2

Polestar is a bit of a wildcard but has stepped up to new levels. Polestar all-electric design and philosophy–much like Tesla–was formed by thinking non-traditionally. Initially a division of Volvo, Polestar now operates independently under the Volvo umbrella. And that price tag also pushes the limits of affordability.

But here’s the thing: Polestar makes electric sexy, smooth, and driver-focused. And the Polestar 2 is able to be many things to many people. Not quite a crossover, and yet more luxury than we’d expect in the dynamic sedan. It rides on Volvo’s excellent Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform. Polestar 2 has excellent safety ratings, and its two electric motors (rear and front axle) produce 408 hp, 487 ft-lb torque, 233 to 292 miles range. This is a proper Tesla alternative with performance and style. Unfortunately, that also starts at about $60,000.
