Folgore

Maserati teases the Gran Turismo Folgore, and Everatti electrifies the iconic GT40. Plus Nissan launches the new X-Trail in the UK.

We all knew it wouldn’t be long before car manufacturers used electrification for speed. And there’s no doubt that electricity can unleash huge amounts of power. Maserati is utilizing this harnessed energy for their new Gran Turismo Folgore. To the tune of 1,200 horsepower.

Now we know that extremely fast cars have always had their place in the EV landscape, but none have ever looked like this. Maserati has taken the Gran Turismo coupe, and put batteries in the area that used to be the transmission tunnel.

From there, a triple motor setup is attached. Road & Track seems to think this will bring the Folgore to 60 miles per hour in 2.6 seconds. 200 miles per hour is also claimed. Official debut will happen in a few months, and by that time we’ll be able to get more details on this sleek ride.

Everatti’s take on the GT40 looks stunning.

Of the many venn diagrams in life, there’s few opportunities to see electric power and the Ford GT40 overlap. But one such example exists, and we’re glad it does. Debuting at the London Concours of Elegance, the Everatti EV GT looks every bit as stunning as the original, and then some. Special leather interior was created just for this car, and so was the EV powertrain. 800 horsepower is available from a 62.5 kWh battery. Sprints to 60 are achieved in under 4 seconds according to TheDriven, while suspiciously, the top speed is just 120 miles per hour. Though some may scoff at this car being an EV, it is officially recognized by the Shelby Registry, and is constructed with cooperation from Superformance.

UK drivers have a new X-Trail from Nissan.

You could say the Nissan X-Trail is popular in England. To date, 7,000,000 of them have been sold. So that’s a fair assessment. Ands now, the X-Trail is new and better than ever. Now in it’s 4th generation, this 7 seater SUV boasts an all-electric drivetrain, though it is charged by a petrol engine, creating a very unique hybrid. All-wheel-drive is powered only by electricity, while a 1.5 liter 4 cylinder turbo motor keeps the charge up.
