Plus the week’s electric vehicle news and debuts from Audi, Bentley and more.

It wasn’t long ago that the idea of an electric muscle car seemed implausible. But as hybrid and EV technology evolved, so did the power and performance. American Muscle Redefined

Stellantis EV Day Dodge emuscle

Dodge made a surprising announcement for Stellantis’ EV Day 2021. The house of Hellcat and Mopar is going green. Well, sort of. They will launch an electric muscle car in 2024, currently named “eMuscle.”

“Performance made us do it,” says Dodge in a new teaser video. And while they are wisely keeping the details on the down low, it looks to be an electric variant of the Challenger. But given the presence of the old-school Fratzog logo, it is clear that Dodge is determined to incorporate the attitude and performance of their muscle car heritage.

It is a powerful and effective way to introduce the eMuscle while staying true to Dodge’s character. Stating “We will not sell electric cars, we will sell American eMuscle.”

e-Tron GT an Electric Dream

2022 Audi e-Tron GT (Audi)

Audi has opened the books on orders for the 2022 e-Tron GT. The all-new 2022 Audi e-Tron GT is a high-performance electric grand tourer that can sprint 0-60 mph in 3.1 seconds. But it doesn’t forgo the luxury and comfort. Featuring a sleek long, low, and wide form, the e-Tron GT stands out as Audi’s fully electric halo. With an EPA-estimated range of 238 miles on the e-Tron GT, and 232 miles on the 637 horsepower RS e-Tron GT – the fast-charging car can be ordered and specced online.

Ford Sales Through the Roof

Ford Mustang Mach-E

Ford recently reported that the company’s electrified vehicle sales went up 117 percent in June. Mustang Mach-E sales increased 27 percent from May to June. Electric and hybrid sales also helped bring up sales across the entire lineup, including Lincoln.

Big sales and excellent vehicles demonstrates that when it comes to EVs “if you build it, they will come.”
