EV Tax Credits May Get Cut, Myers Manx Buggy Reborn With Electric PowerNew legislation from the White House will end tax credits on most EV’s, and an off-road legend gets a power bump.

If you’ve been eyeing an EV lately and the temptation of a $7,500 tax credit has tipped the scales in favor of a purchase, you may want to be aware of some news from the White House. President Biden is expected to sign legislation this month a new tax bill that will change which EV’s are eligible for rebates.

The bill excludes tax credits for vehicles manufactured outside of North America, and takes into account critical mineral sourcing. According to Reuters, this has mired the likes of Audi and Kia, who claim buyers will loose access to those credits when the bill goes into effect January 1st, 2023.

The bill however has a new addition that many will like, however. Used EV’s will now allocate a $4,000 tax rebate. Granted, most owners are likely long term owners, but off-lease deals may soon be had provided the market has a correction from its current high watermark. No word yet on if initially illegible cars will get the used car rebate.

The Myers Manx Buggy could very well be the most popular low volume car ever made. The shape is synonymous with fun, and now it’s even more fun. Dubbed the Myers Manx 2.0 Electric, this VW Beetle based creation has another life. And another chance at winning over the hearts of free-spirited enthusiasts world wide.

One unique note on this car is the simplicity by which it is built. Car and Driver notes it weighs in at a scant 1650 lbs. With an optional 202 horsepower motor this little buggy will hit 60 miles per hour in 4.5 seconds. A gas powered Myers Manx has never moved so quickly. And with electric power, the Manx’s off-road ability will be far superior to its predecessor.

But just 50 of the buggies will be made, so those free-spirited enthusiasts better act quick. Pricing hasn’t been mentioned yet either, but we imagine it’ll be similar to other bespoke small volume EV’s and be quite pricey.
