Chevrolet Silverado EV to Debut At CES 2022

Chevrolet claims that in addition to creating a spacious ambiance for the passengers, Silverado EV’s “segment-leading” fixed glass roof will help offer better headroom and visibility.

Roman Mica from TFLtruck recently got a chance to get behind the wheel of the Hummer EV SUT. General Motors’ all-electric off-roader is one of the most anticipated EV nameplates of the year. With one of the world’s most renowned technology events only a few months away, GM recently also confirmed that it will introduce the Silverado EV at CES 2022. General Motors Chair and CEO, Mary Barra will deliver the opening keynote on Jan 5, 2022, during which she will also unveil the all-electric Silverado.

A new feature will debut in the upcoming EV for the first time in GM history. The automaker will offer what it claims is a “segment-leading” fixed glass roof. It is worth noting that the glass roof will only be available on select variants. According to GM, the roof will help offer better headroom and visibility. Furthermore, the feature will also help create a spacious ambiance for passengers in the front as well as rear.

“Bringing the name businesses trust with less vehicle maintenance and no tailpipe driving emissions. Built on the Ultium platform, the Silverado EV will deliver on our promise to bring more EV options to businesses than ever before,” stated GM.

Drivers will get impressive trailering dynamics courtesy of the four-wheel steer feature.

Just like the Hummer EV SUT, the automaker’s Ultium Platform will also underpin Chevrolet Silverado EV. The electric truck will also get the option of the four-wheel steer, which is another chassis feature that the Silverado EV will share with the all-electric GMC Hummer SUT. At high speed, this feature will also enhance Silverado EV’s stability and handling characteristics.

As per GM estimates, the Silverado EV’s powertrain will deliver more than 400 miles of range. Chevy Silverado EV will be available in both retail as well as fleet versions. During its recent investor meetings, GM announced that it will introduce electric-only versions of the Blazer and Equinox nameplates. The Equinox happens to be Chevy’s second best-selling model, right after the Silverado.

The automaker also revealed that the prices of the forthcoming Equinox EV might start at around $30,000. Therefore we expect the pricing of the all-electric Silverado to start just under the $40,000 mark, as it will sit atop the Equinox EV in Chevy’s product portfolio.
