2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV: Here's What You Need to Know

Silverado EV RST First Edition will offer up to 10,000 lbs of towing capacity. The EV can accelerate to 60 MPH from a complete standstill in just 4.5 seconds in its Wide Open Watts mode.

The all-new Chevrolet Silverado EV is finally here. The Golden Bow tie brand unveiled its latest electric pickup truck during the 2022 CES in Las Vegas. The new Chevy Silverado EV will rival the likes of the upcoming Ram 1500 electric, Rivian R1T, and Ford F-150 Lightning which will go on sale later this year in spring.

Like the upcoming GMC Hummer EV, the automaker’s Ultium platform will also underpin the electric Chevy Silverado. The car rides on a set of segment-first 24-inch rims. The alloy wheels are wrapped in 275/50 Michelin tires. Chevrolet will offer the 2022 Silverado EV in two configurations, including the RST First Edition and WT model.

The latter will likely make its debut in the spring of 2023, with prices starting at just $39,900. According to Chevrolet, the Silverado EV will offer 400 miles of range on a full charge. The payload capacity of the highly-anticipated Silverado EV is rated at 1200 lbs. The truck will also offers 8000 lbs of towing capacity.

General Motors has also disclosed that it intends to launch a towing package for the Silverado EV. The package will increase the payload capacity up to 20,000 pounds.

The all-electric powertrain of the WT variant produces 510 HP of maximum power and 650 LB ft of peak torque. Furthermore, Silverado EV’s RST First Edition variant is scheduled to make its debut in the fall of 2023 with a price tag of $105,000. The total power output of this electric vehicle is rated 664 HP and 780 LB ft of torque.

Vice President of GM Fleet, Ed Peper, offered his insights on the new product. “GM Fleet has long provided customers with great products and services, an exceptional customer experience and innovative solutions to meet their unique business needs,” said Peper. He further added, “We’re excited to launch the Silverado EV, providing customers with a true work-capable truck to help them begin the transition to an electric fleet and assist them in achieving their own sustainability goals.”
