Toyota Just released new details on Prius Plug-in
The Prius plug-in will be at the Frankfurt Motor Show next week, so Toyota is releasing the details:
Looks like 12 miles on electric only, capable of highway speeds Lithium ion batteries Plus they mentioned they are working on the next gen of batteries to get around the limitations of li-ion. Here's the link: http://acceltimes.com/news/9/toyota-...ils-091009.php For a guy like me who isn't tech savvy enough to modify a regular prius to be plug-in, this is good news. |

this is great news, imagine where we'll be technology-wise in 5 years when more and more people are adopting the use of hybrid vehicles!

That's great news but i want to say does no one understand that the Prius needs its shape to acheive its milage?

That's great, but the 12 mile range would be useless to me. Where I live it's 17 miles to the nearest city.
I'm also happy to hear that there is something better than lith-ion in the future. Just an observation; the "Prius shape"?? is not necesary to achieve high mpg. Chevy claims that the "Volt shape" is even better than Prius. In my opinion the Chevy Volt is a great looking car and makes Prius look homely. (HEY! Who put the annoying pop-over links in my post?!!) |

Well, you are correct, that's 12 miles worth of gas I don't have to buy. It is still a Prius hybrid and at 50mpg the gas saving of 12 miles probably wouldn't pay for the extra high price of the plug in? Just guessing.
