Why did I think there were more Prius drivers in Cali?
My parents went for a week and they said they only saw 2 I doubt that they have the eye to actually find them but because of their inability, they deduce that Prius are probably not purchased as much there because the speed limit is higher. I'm hurt. |
I live in the Los Angeles area
My commute is about 20 to 30 mintues each way. I see from 2 to 6 Priuss daily on the road. There are 2 Priuss , 3 HCHs, and one Insight in my parking structure at work. Numbers are approx, but it gives you an idea. |
Actually, Cali is virtually CRAWLING with hybrids, based on registration numbers: ;)
The top 20 states for hybrid vehicle registrations in 2003: 1. California, 11,425 2. Virginia, 3,376 3. Florida, 1,996 4. Washington, 1,972 5. Maryland, 1,851 6. New York, l,653 7. Texas, 1,651 8. Illinois, 1,502 9. Massachusetts, 1,335 10. Pennsylvania, 1,217 11. Ohio, 1,211 12. Oregon, l,043 13. North Carolina, 937 14. Colorado, 899 15. Arizona, 855 16. New Jersey, 854 17. Georgia, 791 18. Michigan, 770 19. Wisconsin, 759 20. Indiana, 571 If you count the total LA County vehicle registrations, Hybrids make up such a TINY bit of the number. 2001 registrations were 6,699,726, and LA County has been increasing 150K to 300K per year since 1999. So if we take the small end of the scale and say they increased 150K in each year 2002 and 2003, the 2003 registrations would be approximately 6,999,726. So if we estimate that half of the Hybrids in Cali were in LA County, that would mean 5,712 out of 6,999,726, and that calculates to .0008 percent. Eight Ten Thousandths of 1 percent, if my math to english converter is still working at age 41. That's pretty insignificant. So seeing 2 to 6 in a commute is pretty good ....... |
Very interesting.
Lars-ss What is your source for the data? I'd like to pass it on but like to quote sources. |
The total registrations came from this page:
http://www.detnews.com/2004/autosinsider/0...utos-130619.htm The LA County registration info came from this page: http://www.losangelesalmanac.com/top...sport/tr02.htm The rest was math..... :) Laterz............ |
Thanks
I appreciate it. kenny |
