new owner 2010 prius

We Purchased the 2010 Prius I test drove on 051609 drove. So far about 330 miles on the odometer and purchased when it had 58 miles on 051709.

Last drive for 30 miles, "A" Trip, in mixed driving was 57.2 MPG indicated on the dash guage. Speeds were from stopped to 65 mph. The "B" trip for about 250 miles has been around 54 MPG, (guage indicated).

Have not filled it up yet and I should get at least 450 -500 miles on this tank. Note: I have no idea how much it was filled when topped off by the dealer, but I doubt if it was filled to the very top where you can see the gas in the neck.

I am real happy with this car and the gas mileage only seems to get better.

Alster,
Just out of curiosity.
What dealer, and what time did you pick your Prius up on the 17th?

Re: new owner 2010 prius

While I was at my local Toyota dealer yesterday having my TCH serviced I asked a salesman about the 2010 Prius.
He was real cagey with his reply ...said the had one in but it had not been serviced yet...said they had a number of inquires about the new Prius.
From the tone of his response I sensed that the dealership was going to treat the 2010 Prius as a "hot and very rare item" and was going to be demanding full pop with no "wheeling and dealing"

It would make sense that they would not "wheel and deal" on a brand new model car.
If someone is looking for a deal, they should instead consider the 2009's.

Picked up our 2010 Prius III with Navi on Sunday, May 17, 2009 at about 3:30PM or so. Dealer is Lum's Toyota, Warrenton, Oregon; Paid MSRP 25, 750.00. Vehicle color is winter gray metallic with dark gray interior, looks real sharp!!

Also received a good trade in on our 2000 Chevy Malibu, and received a $100.00 finder's check for my Fiance', and I will receive a 1,500.00 Tax credit for hybrid purchase from the state of Oregon.

I would never pay above MSRP for any new car no matter how rare.

The dealer is in business to make money. As long as he has a new product and demand is greater than supply, he will charge premium $.

There are some buyers willing to pay anything to get a new model. That's OK if that is what you want to do.

If you want a better price, wait a few months until the 09s are gone and there are several 10s on the lot for sale. There will be a significant price drop.

i am looking to buy a 2010 prius soon, and my local dealer only has one in stock. i like it, but maybe i should wait for a better deal? online they say it is 25,750. it's a IV. do you think the price will get better? i belive it is around MSRP. you can see it here if you want: http://www.thayertoyota.com/inventor..._thayer_dealer

I would have to say that unless it is pretty much what you want, save for something like color, order one the way you want and wait. There won't be any discounts on a new Prius from Toyota, as there isn't much wiggle room from cost for the dealer. Dealer add-ons can be negotiated. (mud flaps, floor mats, etc...)

I just test-drove a 2010, and I just can't find a reason to replace the 2004 that I have. The center arm/console makes the plugs in the floor almost impossible to get to, and Toyota is once again making it hard or impossible to get the few features I want without having to get navigation or other bits that I am not interested in.

Around here all the dealers have one on the lot for test drives, and are taking orders against their allocation. I test drove a blue IV with NAV on the 11th, and "ordered" a silver IV with NAV that's due to be in on the 22nd.
