Transmission/PSD at 120k miles
1 Attachment(s)
2007 Camry hybrid long overdue.
For those who don't know what clean transmission fluid looks like. It should be a clearish maroon. One of the easiest fluid exchanges I've ever done. Just as easy as an oil change. Transmission definitely came back to life after putting in new fluid. |
Re: Transmission/PSD at 120k miles
Yeah, we know. You saw our fluid change write ups in stickies, right?
You do not have a "transmission" and there are no gears changed. It always runs in same gear. So I am not quite sure what this means: "Transmission definitely came back to life after putting in new fluid." That fluid has no hydraulic function similar to one in automatic transmission. It is simple coolant and lubricant for few moving parts. But it's a good picture to ones that doubt and trust that "lifetime" promise is actually lifetime. |
Re: Transmission/PSD at 120k miles
Yes I've read the transmission/psd write up. PSD or transmission: they both do the same thing, transmits powers to the wheels. Call it what you want. It's still a transmission.
I understand there's a sticky for it. But this forum won't suffer from a 10kilobyte post regarding fluid information at 120k miles. This was purely for educational purposes and to encourage Camry owners to do their fluid changes half the interval of what's recommended. |

LOL, I think he was referring to the "Transmission definitely came back to life after putting in new fluid" part of your post. You should not have been able to tell any difference at all in the way the PSD operated.

Why are peeps so sensitive to their forum posts? |

I got a little chuckle out of that. He is just proud to have done it. Nothing to bring to life in there.
To the OP, good job on doing it instead of ignoring it. Such a simple job! It literally takes around 10 minutes. I have done that service 3 times now and I'm about to do it again. I did it the first time at 75,000 miles and a couple times since. On the first change, many years ago, the oil came out very dark. The subsequent changes have been on or around 70,000 additional miles each time and the oil has been much cleaner each time. I plan to do it again at 300,000 miles and do an oil analysis at that time. |
