Fixing "stars" in windshield...how?

...does anyone know of a method to get rid of those pesky accumulating windshield mini-divots that eventually make it look hazy after years of repeated attack?

I've probly got about 50+ now and more every day (of course), and short of eventually replacing the glass, is there anything, perhaps a filler, that would work on this near-microscopic pestilence without messing up visibility?

Despite driving conservatively and getting great mileage, the windshield seems to be suffering, and not at a reduced rate of accumulation. As to be expected in this world I guess. :(

Wow, this sounds like a real drag. I haven't experienced such a thing as you describe and really can't help, but I am curious if the front end paint is experiencing degradation at an excellerated rate, or if it's just the windshield?

Ah, yes, very good idea. Too bad there's no such thing for the windshield.

very interesting! I would wonder about the wipers causing streaks/scratchs over time, as I expect the plastic film would be more subject to that than the glass...
