Getting our kids outdoors
Hey guys i recently heard about a study the Ad Council did which stated that children today spend about 50% less time outdoors than they did 20 years ago. This shocked me a lot, as I know that videogames/TV have become a big factor in kids lives these days I didn't know that it was effecting their time outdoors to this extent.
the Forest Service is running a new campaign called "Where the Other You Lives" which is a campaign targeting children and parents designed to get them outdoors and enjoying nature. They are doing this through a website and a series of PSAs. What are you guys doing to keep your kids outdoors? I have been having my kids help me in the garden and identifying animal tracks we come accross. This is a startling statistic and it's something to try to address I believe. |
