Fisker -- tough market
http://venturebeat.com/2009/03/02/fi...-electric-car/
I looked at the January 2009 auto sales and found:
The Fisker price point is "luxury" but those vehicles are at very low rates, about an order of magnitude lower than the "working hybrids." Their only competition are the Lexus hybrids and the 250h will be serious competition. Both will be going after the Lexus 400h customers (half the price,) who have been buying the smallest Lexus SUV-style, hybrid. Will they meet 1,500 units? The market will decide.

. . . a company that will attempt to sell its primary product for $87,900 a pop in a down economy.
. . . to be manufactured by Valmet Automotive in Finland at a rate of 1,200 a month (or 15,000 a year) by mid-2010, dependent on demand . . .

Re: Fisker -- tough market
I think it will be a potentially scary market to jump into, but I would put the Fisker in a class of its own right now. The styling is on par with Austin Martin, Maserati and dare I say Ferrari? The price of 2 Volts for a car that has the look of pure exotic. My jaw was on the floor looking at these cars at the DC autoshow. They do not look like 88 thousand dollar cars, they look like 188 thousand dollar cars! I see your point of market Bob, but this car will be as different as the Prius is from the 600h.
As a side note, I was reading at GM-Volt.com that the plug in Prius will be offered 1 year after the new style Prius is available. Sounds like the Plug in Prius will be around 40 grand, or the same as the Volt. All being equal, I will take the Volt. My wife and I have decided that we will wait until the Volt and Silverado 2 mode are available and purchase both vehicles together.
