My dad's 4th wife had a Mitsubisi Starrion that ate a turbocharger every 10k miles like clockwork. Essentially, it was about every *other* oil change that the whole thing would just go kablooie! Personally, I didn't have too much sympathy, considering this 300 HP sports car was used for her whopping 2.5 mile commute to work!

And what was she compensating for? ;)

Indeed it does. 75 mph as I recall. Been out there many times. The best way to get to top speed is to get behind a 18 wheeler and follow at a distance. I once went across Wyoming at 95 mph in my Saab. Was like drafting at Daytona. Got pretty good mileage too. Speed enforcement on the western interstates is not generally and rigorously enforced. I doubt anything much less than about 85 mph would get pulled over. I remember the days when 55 mph was tops across the entire U.S. and it was pure torture driving across the western states. That's when radar detectors became so popular. I don't use one myself but I keep my eyes out and stay with the traffic. That's the best way to avoid speeding tickets.
