Toyota Motor Corp. president Fujio Cho said the world's second-largest automaker aims to sell one million hybrid vehicles a year.

"In the future we would like to sell one million hybrid vehicles a year," Cho said Tuesday, without giving a timeframe.

He was speaking at the launch in Tokyo of two new hybrid models of its Harrier and Kluger sport utility vehicles.

Cho said Toyota hoped to sell 300,000 hybrid vehicles globally either this year or next.
