http://www.motorauthority.com/images...t_Volt_009.jpg http://www.motorauthority.com/images...t_Volt_012.jpg As General Motors celebrates its first century in the car business and steps into the next, it has taken the covers off what could potentially be the model that saves the company and maintains its position as one of the world’s biggest carmakers. The production version of the 2011 Chevrolet Volt, expected to yield up to 40mpg (5.88L/100km) fuel economy plus 40mi (64km) of emissions-free electric driving, was unveiled today in Detroit. “Revealing the production version of the Chevy Volt is a great way to open our second century,” said Rick Wagoner, GM Chairman and CEO. “The Volt is symbolic of GM’s strong commitment to the future … just the kind of technology innovation that our industry needs to respond to today’s and tomorrow’s energy and environmental challenges.” |

looks good. I'm game to check it out when it goes on sale. I have a short commute so 40 miles would be great.

Looks to me like a honda - just much more generic than what was introduced a long time ago.
But I'm jazzed about them putting so much R&D into the functionality! |

The interior looks pretty snazzy.
I'm interested (as always) in this vehicle. |

Well, I like it. But it just seems that by 2011 these specifications may not quite measure up to the competition. I hope so anyway.

Will it be availble to those that are interested at a reasonable price. I had a hard time finding a Camry hybrid. Forget it if you are interested in a lease

I am willing to sell my Prius to get a Volt. I am #8 on the GM-Volt list.

Any one can sign up an an unofficial list at GM-Volt.com. I recommend that everyone also call their local dealer. My local dealer knows nothing. Like they do not know the internet exists.
I will be waiting a year or two to purchase as I want the electric PTO. This option will make the car a large generator already plugged in overnight at my house. For those who want a different and less expensive car. GM is changing over their entire line to this E-Flex architecture. Larger and smaller vehicles will be coming along. What's so special about 40mpg from a hatchback? We have a 1.9 litre turbo diesel (120hp) 7 seat people carrier which frequently gets 40mpg and occasionally (on a good run) gets 50!
