IMA Battery

Took my 2004 honda civic hybrid to honda service and they said problem in IMA battery. CODE 1433 .They said it needs replacement... they say though the original proce is almost $6500, but out of good will they will replace it with a brand new and 2 yr warranty for me for $1250 including labor...
what can be the catch here? what do u think made them come down so low from 6500.
also i read in this forum where people have said that repoacing costs almost $3000 to $4500..So why are they doing it for so low... they also charged me nothing for checking??
all these have made be doubtful.. what do u say??

is there a problem/issue due in hondas part which they are not telling me and covering it up by this deal ???
about a month back i had got a product update from honda for the "catalytic convertor threshold level issue" ..is it becasue of this ?/ may be ..

ur opinions plz??

Re: IMA Battery

The $6500 price sounds way out of whack. I recently had my IMA battery replaced, and the cost would have been more in the range of $3000. It was covered under warranty however.
So yeah, $1250 would be a good deal, as long as you are really out of warranty.

Recently the warranty was extended by 12 months or 12,000 miles. This info should be in their Honda computer system.
If your car is still covered under the warranty extension, then Honda should not be charging you. So the question is, how many miles do you have on your car? And which state do you live in, because some states like CA have a longer warranty to begin with.

The catalytic converter is another issue entirely.
