Honda's oil filter? or Aftermarket filter?

I have always used Honda's filters on my Hondas, but it sound like honda may or may not have the best filter.

What is everyone else using? Honda's filter or aftermarket?

Honda claims their filter gets the oil pressure up more instantly than some of the aftermarket ones.

My advice is the honda version. Much of the magic of the iTec engine and it's variable timing has to do with oil pressure in the values and the value train contraptions. not getting the oil pressure up could damage the engine.

Honda suggests that aftermarket ones do not have the quality bar needed. You can get the filters relatively cheap off of the official Honda parts site, so I'd just do that.

Of course I do have web site addresses to back them up, but not with me

This smells of the "If you don't use OEM parts, we won't honor your warranty" kind of BS that went on before the passage of the Magnuson-Moss Act. In some cases (like most Fram variations), I'm willing to concede that they probably have a very good point. Other manufacturers (eg Champion Labs), will exceed the OEM. I talked with a guy that was a sales rep for wix and he said that fiberglass oil filters filtered the best, especially in the long run. Their efficiency doesn't fall off like paper ones. I know K&N makes them for our motors for around $10 each. Next time I see him, I'll see if wix or anyone else makes them for Hondas, I know they make them for SBF.

The mfr of Fram makes the Honda US oil filters.

Just had my first oil change, went with Mobil 1 0-20 with the Honda filter done at a Honda dealership.
