First 4 days of driving...MPG 51.2!
Now I only purchased my car just this past Saturday and I my average MPG is 51.2! I can not believe it is that high. My drive distance to work is 45 miles one way and mostly flat serface and highway 90% of the way. So far I am very happy with the MPG.

Sounds like your commute is ideal for high mpg, especially if you have warm weather and keep your windows shut. That's fantastic- congratulations!
Good luck on the new hybrid and welcome to GH. We're happy to have you here.

I live in Phoenix and the average temp is 80 year round. I did a test today on my drive to work. I reset on of the trip milages and my drive was 45.5 miles with an average of 59.5 MPG. Now you can't beat that!

If you live in Phoenix then you have EVERYthing going for you- I wouldn't be surprised to see you breaking other people's FE records left and right here if you put any real effort into it. Though I suspect that you'll have excellent numbers even without trying much, too. Congrats again! That's just great.

Just dont hit the A/C switch too much this summer when it gets to *#$% hot in Phoenix, otherwise the Northern HCH2 owners with nice long daily drives (like me) may gain on you
Happy problems - only getting 53mpg so far.

Well my first tank of gas is gone. Only (just kidding) 654 miles on my first tank. What I have noticed is I do drive a little slower then normal. My average speed on the way to work is about 50 mph (no stopping) for the first 20 miles and 65-70 mph for (some stop-n-go on the freeway) over the next 25 miles. I am going to see if I can push 800 miles out of my next tank. If I can that will take me to work and home 8 days. In my old car (Chrysler Aspen Suv) I would have filled up 3 X with a cost of $88.00 per fill-up. So, as of right now I am saving an average of $10.00 per day on gas. If I would have only known this last year prior to buying my SUV.

Hello,
I apologize for the indirect topic, but it's relevant I feel. I'm looking HARD at buying a Civiv Hybrid and test drove one yesterday. Not long enough to make a good call on what I can expect from MPG performance. My situation is unique in that I drive each week a round trip of 400 miles on the highway (200 one way) and it takes me 3 hours now, driving at 80 MPH. Yes, I have a great radar dectector. So my question is this, to you current owners, what has been your experience in driving a long distance at a constant 80 MPH? What can I really expect to get in MPG?
Thank you,
James Twoquack
