Does anyone hear a clacking noise when going from forward to reverse in their HCH 5 speed? When I release the clutch after going from forward to reverse, or vice-versa, I hear a loud clacking noise. My impresssion is this noise is due to slop in the drivetrain, such as a worn or broken CV joint, axle, or even the final drive in the transmission. This car has only 27K miles on it. It's going to the dealer on tuesday.

No noise on my '04, with 28k on the clock. Let us know what the dealer says.

Should have mentioned mine is an '03, don't know if there were any (significant) changes in newer models.

update: they say it's the brake calipers rattling back and forth. Gotta have "floating" calipers.

Pretty loud, but I'll take their word for it. Got a receipt that I asked about it in case one of my axles gives out in the future.

That could be it lifespeed. I know that the first time i brake after switching directions my brakes pop. There was actually a recall of sorts telling owners of Corollas and Rav4s of my year not to worry about it, its normal.
Cheers,
Steven
