Brakes

At my 36k service on my HCH the dealer told me I had 50% of my brakes left. They are the originals. I think I can attribute this to the fact that the recharging of the battery assists in braking thus reducing the need for the pads to work as hard. At this rate I should be able to get 50k out of the pads easily which I have never been able to do on a regular vehicle. Can anyone else share with your mileage per set of brake pads.

Hi;

Can't tell you about mileage per set of Brake-Pads, but I have never Replaced the Brake Pads on any of my Vehicles Ever. :shade:

All; I suppose you now want to know how I got away with not ever changing brake Pads, Right?

I traded cars/vehicles every 3-6 Months for many yrs. and then I traded every yr. for many yrs. :lightbulb

So; No-Brake Pads for me.

Terry

Re: Brakes

Still original on both our cars, non-hybrids, 130,000 miles and 113,000 miles. My previous car wore out the inner pads because they weren't retracting properly, but that was at a little over 100,000 miles.

Re: Brakes

a small car such as a Civic should be able to go 80K before the front pads need replaced, 120-150K before the rear shoes need replaced. I'd think a hybrid would be 20-40% longer because the normal brakes are used less as regenerative processes should soak up a lot of deceleration. That said, if you do mostly city stop and go, and are on the brakes a LOT, it could be as little as 40K. We have over 130K on our Sienna van and I'm sure all brakes are original.

i can't imagine that brakes wouldn't go longer than that.....my old civic i think we replaced them at upwards of 100,000 miles......

Re: Brakes

Me too. I usually get over 150,000 on a set of pads. I can't see why the pads on the HCH won't last much longer, due to the regenerative braking.
Just my .02

I had to replace all of the pads on my '97 Civic at 110,000 miles

Re: Brakes

I'm sure the average driver in Los Angeles gets under 30K from their pads.
They are A-holes.
Everyone tailgates to protect their "territory" from anyone pulling in front of them.

At my 45K service I was at about 50% front and 70% rear - 2003 HCH I.
