Re: all 2006 hch delayed til nov
Got my confirmation today. Won't be in till mid to late November. :(
I don't understand. If you can't get a VIN till they are here (in the US), and they supposedly have the VIN, but they won't be here for 3-4 weeks?? Humm? Talk to us Bert. |
Re: all 2006 hch delayed til nov
Jeff, When did you order your car and is the mid to late Novemeber date a "slip" from what you had originally been told or expected?
BTW, I spent a lot of time in East Texas (Longview, Kilgore, Tyler) in the mid 80's and my wife was from Tyler. I really found that part of Texas beautiful. |
Re: all 2006 hch delayed til nov
This story says that the Civic Hybrid doesn't go on sale in Japan until November 22nd. If it doesn't even go on sale until November 22nd in Japan, it would seem the chances of being on sale in the US before then are unlikely.

Yes, logic would say your correct, but the Oct. 6, 2005 press release from Honda America (http://www.hondanews.com/CatID2010?m...43258&mime=asc ) advised
...The 2006 Civic Hybrid, which achieves an EPA estimated city/highway fuel economy of 49/51 miles per gallon*, goes on sale October 19 with a price of .... |
Re: all 2006 hch delayed til nov
The Japanese release date has always been intended to be later than the U.S. release date. It was supposed to be October 5th for us even when the Japanese release was November 22nd.
Don't forget the cars were supposed to be here already; there's simply been a very large shipping delay. |

Call me the eternal Optimist, but today I spend considerable time on the web sites of the shipping companies Honda uses (per the article at http://www.findarticles.com/p/articl...84/ai_n6335833), looking at their schedules for shipment to San Diego's National City Terminal (Which is the terminal used for automobile shipments). I see no delays for any of the shippers leaving from any of the 3 or so Japanese ports Honda uses. I have to beleive a port delay would impact more then Honda vehicles and would be in the news, but I just cannot find any reference. So, I say the cars are on their way !;) |
Re: all 2006 hch delayed til nov
FYI - my dealer (Anderson Honda, Palo Alto, CA) just called me with a VIN saying my 2006 HCH should be here in about 2 weeks. I have been #4 on the waiting list.
I guess the ship finally sailed from Japan. |
Re: all 2006 hch delayed til nov
Yay! Two weeks! I'll e-mail my LA-area dealer and see if he has similar news. I just hope the cars don't arrive during Thanksgiving because I'll be on the other coast. :/
Larry: My dealer told me 1700 Civic Hybrids were on the ship and I can't imagine there'd be much room for anything else. By the way, here are satellite photos of San Diego's auto port. Lots of cars. |

BTW, I spent a lot of time in East Texas (Longview, Kilgore, Tyler) in the mid 80's and my wife was from Tyler. I really found that part of Texas beautiful. I am the first one on the list in Tyler. Have been on the list since late Aug. It had a target date of 9/27. Don't know if that was the ship date, build date or the date they started thinking about building. I then got a call that the VIN number showed up. A few days later I got another call. Good News/Bad News. Good news is they have a ship date. Bad news is the date is mid to end of Nov. I was waiting for an 05 HCH 5 spd from another dealer, but was convinced by the local dealer to wait for the 06's, and am anxiously waiting. |
