Highs: Faster and more fuel efficient, hybrid system has learned a few new tricks, quieter and more refined than the previous generation.

Lows: Strange interior and exterior design, uncomfortable front seats, occasional whirring and beeping noises, still slow.

The Verdict: Toyota's only real competition gets better (and weirder) in its second generation.

Overall not a very favorable review... they seem to like the Prius a lot better, although I have to disagree on their comment about the strange interior and exterior design... the Prius is much worse in that respect!

I don't know what they mean by "weird" it's a relative term

as for the whirring and beeping noises, I hear them too when decelerating to a stop. but why is it a bad thing? pretend you're in a high-tech spaceship :D
