Question about checking CVT fluid level.

Hello everyone. I recently drained the CVT fluid in my 2006 Civic hybrid and refilled it with the recommended 3 quarts. Actually, I did that three times to flush the old fluid due to the fact that the previous owner of the car neglected to do any CVT maintenance for 60,000 miles. Both the owner's manual and service manual recommend checking the fluid level after the engine gets up to operating temperature and within 60 - 90 seconds after turning the engine off. My fluid level is below the lower mark on the "HOT" range of the dipstick. However, when the engine is cold the fluid level is above the upper mark on the "HOT" range of the dipstick. I'm assuming that I need to add another 1/4 to 1/2 quart of fluid but thought that I would ask here first. From what I've observed, the fluid level seems to drop during the first 60 seconds after the engine is turned off.

Thanks.

Re: Question about checking CVT fluid level.

The car sometimes jerks after putting the transmission in D or R. I've done a drain and fill with new fluid three times and also replaced the filter behind the radiator. I'm also planning on replacing the strainer in the transmission pan in spring when the weather is warmer. The car has 250,000 miles so I'm not that surprised that there are issues.

Thanks.
