Blue ridge parkway
Planning on driving the Blue Ridge Parkway end to end in my new HCH-II , 469 miles this June. I was wondering, has anyone drove this before and if either direction would be better for gas mileage purposes. I know that there is a lot of hills to climb in both directions but maybe some seasoned traveler has a few good words of advice.

Re: Blue ridge parkway
The south-western end of the parkway is very steep and technical. Elevation drops as you head north so that *should* get you the best mileage.
From past experience, I always got better FE after getting through NC. Don't miss to opportunity to hit the Cherohala Skyway when you're down there. It is equally scenic and slightly less traveled. And for the love of all that is holy, pull over for faster moving cars. |

Christopher;
Please pass that message (in the name of all that's holy) along to all my fellow California drivers!! My annoyed hand signals just don't seem to get the point across!! Jill :angry: |
Re: Blue ridge parkway
Be aware that portions of the Parkway are closed. The road has been severely damaged north of Asheville and will require a detour for a long time. Check this website for closing details - http://www.nps.gov/blri/planyourvisit/roadclosures.htm
