what are gas prices at for you?

Re: what are gas prices at for you?
Most interesting thing about the gas prices is that you can almost predict price changes on a daily basis. For example, a couple of days ago wholesale gasoline futures were 1.48/gal, yesterday they were about 1.59/gal. Sure enough, the Gulf station that was 1.97/gal for reg is now 2.09/gal today.
Rule of thumb, check wholesale gasoline and add your local/fed tax to that and you get an idea how much the station is making per gallon....

Going up in Pittsburgh. Last Thursday, $2.039. Today, four days later, $2.199. The prices at the pump are following the futures pretty well. Last week gasoline futures troughed at $1.43/gallon. This morning they were up to $1.60/gal.

Prices here in Canton area were below $2 last week, now they have shot up to $2.12 for reg.
With wholesale gasoline at $1.58 this morning plus $0.44 combined tax, that makes $2.02/gal, leaves 0.10 margin. So the station is probably not making much per gallon if you factor in for shipping. Might be making a nickel.
