Woo Hoo! 40.4!!!

Thanks to some of the new tips I have learned from the hypermilers here, I have reached an all time high for a short trip. On a 5 mile trip I was able to reach 40.4 on the display! ('07 MMH AWD) Now I do have to admit, this is my second Hybrid, my first being an Insight (personal best in it was 93.4)

This is with LESS than 3k on the MMH! (currently around 1.5k on it)

I think I did figure out why some folks are confused why their Hybrid doesn't get the mpg that they thought they would. On the way to VA, I saw a Prius doing about 90mph! I am pretty sure he isn't getting the sticker mpg ;)

Must be a good day. I did a school run this morning so the FEH (also an AWD) was warm for my work run and I came in at 39.8 (usually get around 32 from a cold start). My current odo is close to yours, around 1300.

Feels good, huh?

Nice work Mike and Colin.

Yes... speed kills.... gas mileage!

I still beat the EPA numbers up to 65 MPH, but a major reason I keep a good average is I rarely exceed 65 MPH. Above that, MPG takes a steep dive.

In a FWD 48 MPH steady = 48 MPG over flat ground with a warm engine.

John, I got a little better than 48mph = 48mpg here in Florida with a full HV battery. My steady state tests in "Hypermiling The Ford Escape Hybrid" article put it closer to 50mph = 51mpg. Take a look at all the speeds from 30mph - 60mph: http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/artic...brid--350.html
