Are there any lowering kits available for the 2008 + FEH?
I am thinking about lowering my 2009 FEH and wanted to see if there is anything out there. I looked on Tire Rack and they offer H&R springs, but only for the V6 model. Has anybody done this and are there products out for the 2008 + FEH?

Back in the olden days, they'd cut a bit off the springs to make them shorter, but that also had the effect of stiffening the ride (which we don't need with 45 psi in the tires).

I remembers seeing a online parts by Ford that had set of 4 springs that would lower it app 3/4'.
Found this with a search and I see no reason that they wouldnt work on 08 and 09. You may want to send them a email asking. I thought the '09 was already lower than previous years?

Re: Are there any lowering kits available for the 2008 + FEH?
The 2005-07 models were 70.4 inches high.
The 2008-09 models are 67.9 inches high. The current style appears less aerodynamically shapped but the lowered height must contributed to a smaller frontal area and thus improved aerodynamics as stated by Ford. Re: Are there any lowering kits available for the 2008 + FEH?
One reason that there may not be a lot of options for lowering an Escape is that there are only Koni shocks and strut inserts available (by special order from Holland) that are built to handle higher spring rates than stock. The KYB GR2 shocks currently available are an OEM replacement and not a performance shock.
Slapping these H&R lowering springs on stock struts will likely make for a hobby horse ride in a short time, but maybe people who want to do this wouldn't care anyways. |
Re: Are there any lowering kits available for the 2008 + FEH?
I find tires at 45-50# make for a stiff enough ride, let alone adding higher spring rates.
