Synch problems
 

Just bought a 2009 FEH. Got my phone paired okay, but did not download my phonebook. I wanted to make a test phone call. Following page 14 of the manual, I pressed the picture of the guy talking. As this controls all media, that did not quite make sense to me, but whatever.

Then the instructions say, "when prompted...say dial." Only problem is there was no prompt, nor apparently anyway of generating it. The screen just says "ynch line in."

Do I have to have a phone book downloaded to make a call?

If so, can I call someone not in the phonebook?

Am I correct, there is no way of manually dialing?

Is this yet another clunky Microsoft product?

Press the phone icon on your steering wheel.

You'll hear, "please say a command."

You say, "call mary" or whatever.

Downloading the phone book just caused problems with my wife's vehicle. She had to ok the BT connection every time she started her vehicle until I sync'd it w/o the phone book.

Hold down the phone icon to hang up.

Not on my FEH, though I tried it about 20 times.

I did stumble in how to manually dial, left myself a message on my voice mail, but could not get it to hang up, even though I hit every button on there, including the phone icon butten you mentioned.

It sounds like I may genuinely have a problem.

Press the phone button to connect to your phone.
Press the voice button above it.

Ah, I have not tried that combo (and it is not what the owner's manual says), but I will try it. Thanks.
