Spring can't get here soon enough...

I got my first 30+ MPG (by calc, not NAV) tank since an all highway trip over Christmas. Before that it was late September. The pleasure was short-lived as we were back in the 30's and 40's this weekend....even had some flurries. Though, even a few tanks in the 25-26MPG range look good compared to the 23.8, 22.9 and 22.0 tanks I strung together in late January / early February.

Anyone else desperate for temps in the 60's and 70's? The 7MPG hit between September and February was starting to make me feel bad....

Tim- With my warmer temps, It's like I got a brand new vehicle! About 60'F is ideal. ( No heat or A/C required )

Once you hit 70'F the battery may start to need A/C even if you don't.

Good luck! Spring / Fall is best for most people!

Since the temps have risen here in northwest MO, my tanks have been running in the mid-30's pretty consistently (some of this has been me getting better at some of the techniques discussed here). However, spring around here also means a lot of wind. With fronts coming through I've had some days recently with headwinds 20-30mph from the south in the morning (my direction to work) and from the north by evening. Last tank was down to 33mpg (calculated). Still better than the 29 - 30 I was getting before!

Other than going a little slower on windy, I don't know of much I can do. About 3/4 of the way to work is interstate which I can usually go around 60mph on. With the distance I have, taking other routes to work would add too much time to the commute.

We had "Spring" here for a short time. We had a day last week where it was just shy of 70º & sunny. I washed & waxed my truck & got 34 mpg on that tank of gas without even really trying(not bad for a 4WD IMHO).

The weather then went down hill big time & we had 3" of snow. This morning, it was 24º here & my Scangauge II is reading 24mpg for the current tank................................

I think it was the wax. You know... it makes your car "cut" through the air easier.

LOL, we got a tease of it here. I was at 35.5 after one day of driving around in that weather. Currently we're on day 5 with below 30 degree temps, snow, rain, and occasionally hail since then. MPG's dropped again.

Blah. I agree, Spring would be most welcome, especially for my nenpimania.
