Scangauge For The FEH

Has anyone hooked up a Scangauge to the FEH? Looked on scangauge.com and found it's a simple hook up to a single plug (On-Board-Diagnostic Connector) above the brake pedal. The cost of the Scangauge is $129 and can be unplug and used in most cars from 1996 on. The information it can give you is unreal it appears. The connection in your vehicle is required by law. The guage is 5.2" W, 2.7" H and 2.1" deep and can be placed near or on top of the dash. It appears you can use it to adjust your driving habits to save a lot of fuel in addition to finding problems and reset warning lights.

Any thoughts before I order one? Why does this seem so easy and beneficial?

I've heard if they're bought in quantities of 10 or greater, they can be had for $99 each. Group buy?

Re: Scangauge For The FEH

In response to my review and other feedback Scangauge has now included a new "hybrid" mode in the gauge. I haven't had enough time behind the wheel to test it out. It still can't quite accommodate the Insight (lean burn), but hopefully next month I'll know how it does on other EV mode hybrids.
There's a money back guarantee so I'd say give it a try. And if you have feedback, be sure to contact Scangauge directly. They are great to deal with.

I downloaded the manual here. It does have a position for hybrid vehicles. I will order one and give it a test on my '05 FEH. Thanks for the heads up on a new geek gadget. I love this forum.;)

Thanks to all of you that responded. Just got off the phone with Ron at Scangauge and he also confirmed the update for Hybrids. As far as a group buy, he said they had problems with people not paying and now only sell to dealers with large orders at a discounted price.

This is good news for everyone that uses EV or drives a Hybrid. Those that have the older model may want to pass it on to a non Hybrid owner and buy the new version.

Wait, don't sell your old unit yet. If I remember correctly, I think Ron may be able to update your old units. Give him a call or drop him an email, I'm sure he'd be happy to respond.

Xcel, Scangauge's toll free number is 1-888-433-5664. It would be better if you talk to Ron yourself because I've never seen a Forced Auto Stop switch and I would not know what I'm talking about or looking for. He answered the phone when I called that number and we spent some time talking FEH. I'm sure he will take time discussing your needs and he knows about Greenhybrid.com.
