Need Your Help Please

Can other owners please help me with your observations?

Can any of you out there run your ICE ( gas engine ) at 4000 RPM or
faster when you are traveling 20 MPH or slower?

Just please watch your tach and speedometer ( need not be exact ) the
next few days when you take off from a stoplight quickly, or
accelerate briskly up a freeway ramp. You don't need to go out of
your way, but you may need to "step on it" a bit faster than you are
used to.

Thank you! And I would like several replies, so if you are not the
first, please reply also. The more data, the merrier I will be!
Thanks in Advance.

Nope. At higher speeds I can get up that high, but not at 20 MPH or below. Even pushing it a bit I only got up to just under 3000 RPM by that point.

It might have something to do with the amount of load the MG1 can produce vs the output of the engine. There has to be a limit or the ICE will over power the MG1 and cause the MG1 to stall.

I've gotten mine to about 3500 RPM at 20 MPH, but that was starting up a pretty steep hill from a dead stop.

Mark, I don't understand what you are saying in Post #3.

In a planitary gear system one gearset is driven, one is held and the other is output. to make the system variable the held gearset (mg1) is allowed to move slightly. (MG1 is a variable load) But there is a point (I think) that the ICE (which is the driven componet) CAN over power the MG1.

FYI...
Following chart is for the original NHW-10 Prius, but the basic concept is the same on FEH.

Thanks Ken.
I'm looking for the maximum permitted RPM for the generator, specifically in the Ford Escape. The behavior of my FEH follows those graphs pretty well.
