Is my new MECS pump defective??
 

My 2008 FEH throws the P1A0D Generator Disabled code and goes into limp mode after about 20 minutes of driving. I followed the service manual for testing the MECS pump by tapping it to see if it started working again. The pump makes no sound, and tapping did not make it start up. I ordered a new MECS pump online and installed it. It still doesn't turn on. Here's where I'm hoping to get some assistance:

I also got a new connector for it because my old one cracked when I took it off, so with the new connector connected, I got some alligator clips and connected the pump directly to the 12 volt battery. Nothing happened. Just to make sure everything was actually connected I grazed the two loose ends together and got a spark as expected. Also, without knowing anything about multimeters, I decided to check the impedance of the new pump and the multimeter just displays a 1.

Can anyone confirm that this means my new MECS pump is defective?

I don't have a good pump to confirm but I think the 12v should make it the pump spin. If you use your multi meter measure the bad pump, what is the number? Also, if you hook up the old pump to the 12v battery and tap it, will it run? Do the same to the new pump to see if any thing changes.
