The filter gets just as dirty with WD40 as it does with the fancy K&N kit.

One of my friends has smoked cigarettes for 30 years and doesn't have lung cancer. I still tell him it's a bad idea every time I see him light up. K & N oil is $10 at Amazon and is formulated for entirely different reasons and to have different properties than WD-40. I can assure you WD-40 is not manufactured to be as tacky and capture/hold as much dirt as possible.
