Intermittent fueling problem

I own a 2009 FEH with 58,000 miles - excellent vehicle with the following problem that has happened twice now.

I'm at the gas station and I go to put the nozzle into the fuel tank neck and the nozzle won't go in. Seriously. The first time it happened I drove to another pump at the same station and the nozzle would then go in.

A few months later the same thing happened at a different gas station. (in another state)

Has anybody else had this happen to them? If so, what causes it?

Is your fuel filler flap still in place in the filler neck? Mine disappeared, I assume into the tank. I wonder if yours could be jammed in the filler neck somehow.

The fuel filler flap is still there - problem is sometimes it won't allow the nozzle into the filler neck, but most of the time it will.
