I think my MECS finaly died :(

Driving home from a restaurant tonight, about 1mi into driving; got the stop safely now message, engine shut off. Pulled off to the side. Turned off, and it started tight back up. Got almost home (~6mi from 1st incident) and got it again. Again, started right back up. Pared in garage, and the fans were running full force, couldn't tell if the MECS pump was running or not. Plugged the SG back in, MET was ~158 (after sitting ~10min, key off). Even in the run postion, not on, the fans were running full throtle.

I know my pump has been loud for years now. So I assume it's the pump; but after skimming through the 50pages of messages I can't be sure. My wife also filled up today, same station as always (from a 1/2 tank too). Checked the gas cap 2nd time & it seemed like it was on right.

But after I tapped the pump with a hammer, the fans died down in a few seconds, and I could see fluid moving in the tank.

So I ordered a new pump anyway. Does it seem like this is the issue, should I check anything else?

Do I need MC Gold coolant, or any 50/40 anti freeze???

Thanks

(08 gen 1, something like 80k miles so far)

A Ford Tec posted this MECS pump replacement video sometime ago.

When I replaced my MECS pump I was able to clamp the hoses shut using vice grips, pull hoses off and didn't loose more than a few drops of fluid
