Front Brakes - Regen disabled alert on '07 FEH

I just changed the front rotors and pads.

I turnd the car off and popped the hood.

As I had time I let the car sit for a day, lettign everything cycle down.

I removed the required fuses.

I disconnected the battery.

I uncapped/loosened the brake fluid reserviour.

Did the break down and reinstall on the brakes, torque to spec also.

Reconnected the battery and repalced fuses and tightened the cap.

Go to start the car and tap the brakes and move it back and forth a couple times to seat the pads.

I look on the dash and I see Regen Disbaled.

Questions

Why did this happen? Is it the result of pulling the fuses and disconnecting the battery?

Will driving the car force it to relearn concerning regen braking being enabled?

Is it safe to drive if the car is relearning?

Thanks in advance

The short answer is yes, it is due to disconnecting the battery.

Yes, it will return to normal on it's own.
Drive at a slow ( 20 MPH ) speed and apply the brake 2-3 times.

I'm 99% sure everything will return to normal.

Thanks for the reply. But could you elaborate further on the 1%. :) ;)

You "recharged" the calipers, pumping the brake pedal, with the ignition on and the system saw that as failing brake hydraulics.

After driving the car the alert disappeared.

Cool. :shade:
As expected. Since it does that in mine when I disconnect the battery and don't touch the brakes.

Thanks guys. I hate DIY projects and have an unknown surprise at the end it. I'm learning these hybrids are a whole different animal from the non-hybrid vehicles.

As an added bit of info if you decide to DIY brakes you will need to have a 9mm Hex Allen wrench/socket to remove the front glide bolts and a 7mm Hex Allen wrenc/socket to remove the rear glide bolts.

Try finding the 9mm wrench, it ain't easy. After going to several places I found a kit (wrenches) at Home Depot. Most kits go from 8mm and jump to 10mm. No place sold them separately. I had to go to the internet to purchase a 9mm Hex Allen socket, since no store sold that item. You will need at least a 1 inch length for the 9mm socket and the same for the 7mm socket.

Those work on a 2007 Escape Hybrid. Not sure if they work on later or earlier models.

Dave - remind me, what happened to make you have to change the rotors, especially the front ones?
