FEH 2006 Rattling Higher Speeds
Hopefully this is something new, I haven't been able to find any answers here.
I have just begun hearing a rattling noise in my car when I hit roughly 60 mph. The noise gets more pronounced when I increase the speed, especially around 75 mph, and there is no kind of vibration felt through the Escape. I do not hear it when I am below 55-60 mph. It does not change with engine RPM, it only seems to be with the speed of the vehicle so when I throw the car in neutral it does not suppress but continues the rattling. When I recently had my oil changed the mechanic noticed slight oil seepage from my left axle seal and recommended getting the seal replaced. Just had the CV axle replaced on that left front side, but not the seal. Could that be the cause of the rattling? Or would the source of that kind of rattling be something completely different? |

where is the rattling coming from? Why don't you take a video of it, so we can hear it.
honestly doubt it's the cv. |

I would first look for a damaged tire if the noise increases with speed. Also, check your parking brake because we have had adjustment problems that make noise. Make sure your jack and tools are secure.

Thanks for the replies.
The noise seems to be coming from the front drivers side almost towards the middle, nearly have to stick your head under the steering wheel to hear it well. Tires all look fine, I will work on getting a video/audio clip of the noise. |
Re: FEH 2006 Rattling Higher Speeds
I don't know the '06 FEH body very well but could there be any heat shields or splash guards loose? I've known this to be an issue on other cars and often happens after an oil change where the technician forgets to button up panels removed during the oil change.
