Escape Turned off
I was driving home from work and my 2007 Escape Hybrid suddenly turned off on me. It took a while to turn back on again. This happened twice today. Each time I was accelerating. This could have been a very dangerous situation. Is this a know problem?

Re: Escape Turned off
Assuming you got the "Stop Safely Now" message on your console, search for that in this forum.

Re: Escape Turned off
I did not get any messages. All power turnede off. I had to put car in park and it took a while to start it. The hazzard lights would not even turn. It was like a complete loss of power.

Re: Escape Turned off
Sounds like a low 12v issue, it is the middle of summer, so that's one of the times that it would show up. It's a tiny battery that doesn't actually start the truck so you'd never know it was going out until it does.

Re: Escape Turned off
I thought the 12v starts the car and the trrnator runs the electrical system. What does the 12v do?

Re: Escape Turned off
I took the car out again this afternoon and it ran fine. I am not sure what happened earlier with it shutting off. Do you think it has a generator or battery problem?

Re: Escape Turned off
12v battery problem, if it was driving normally before such as still giving assist the generator is charging the main battery adequately

Re: Escape Turned off
Is the 12v battery the same kind as a non hybrid car? I assusmed that all that does was start the car. I thought the big battery in the trunk kept the car running.

Re: Escape Turned off
The 12V battery is similar to any other car/truck battery. The high voltage (big battery in the trunk) battery is the one that starts the FEH.
