Covering battery
 

Just bought a 2007 FEH. Wrecked my 04 HCH this morning. I was wondering if it was ok to cover the battery long term - I know heating is an issue.

I want to build myself a storage system out of PVC and ABS sheeting in the back to better organize my tools and gear, and have it fold open to enable sleeping with the middle seats down, but I know my battery is in the cargo area.

Any thoughts? Suggestions? I don't want to use wood due to weight. I've built things using ABS before. It's a cool product.
