Block heater, coolant heater
 
Anyone used one of these, any advantages,disadvantages?
Curious since it is hgher wattage than the block heater,

Looks similar to the heater hose heaters from waaay back. Those suckers would blow heat as soon as you started your car. You could hear them pumping as you approached it.

I see they have a 1000w model too.

I have no experience with them, but am considering them both for my FEH and my old diesel Volvo as I consider a move from TX to a much colder climate north of here.

Various heaters are common in the diesel/biodiesel/waste veggie oil (WVO) communities, but I've never heard of any hybrid owner using one. Make sense, though...

Up north most vehicles (maybe not the cheap ones) come with a block heater.
